Marea Negra

Cada vez me siento más concienciada de la responsabilidad que tenemos con respecto al medio ambiente, consciente de la importancia de vivir lo más eco-friendly posible. Hace aproximadamente 7 años que tengo una pegatina en la puerta de mi habitación con la conocida frase "PIENSA GLOBALMENTE. ACTÚA LOCALMENTE" rodeando la silueta del mundo. La verdad es que la pegué en su momento por mi obsesión con el mundo y los mapas, porque me gustaba tener al mundo en la puerta de mi habitación. Pero esta frase fue cobrando un sentido lógico e imprescindible para mí con el paso del tiempo, el cambio en la opinión pública, en los medios de comunicación y las empresas.

Esta frase tiene un significado sencillo, real y que se puede aplicar tanto al medio ambiente como a las personas que nos rodean y la sociedad en general. Sí que depende de nosotros hacer del mundo uno mejor en el día a día y con nuestros propios actos. Pero, para ello, debemos estar constantemente en contacto con información que nos abra los ojos, nos haga pensar más allá y muestre el resultado de nuestros actos como seres humanos.

Una herramienta muy efectiva de comunicación son el arte y la cultura. Así, nos encontramos con personas como el fotógrafo madrileño Daniel Beltrá, que son profesionales de la comunicación conservacionista. Daniel está especializado en fotografía aérea y es así como nos muestra la magnitud de algunos desastres naturales, casi siempre en colaboración con Greenpeace.

Marea Negra es uno de sus últimos trabajos y se centra en el vertido de petróleo ocurrido en el Golfo de México en Abril del 2010. Estas fotografías de aire y tierra muestran al desastre y su inmensa belleza, creando un sentimiento de contrariedad.

Es gracias a la colaboración de la Fundación Photographic Social Vision y de la marca Roca que podemos ver esta exposición de entrada libre en el Roca Madrid Gallery.

While time passes, I feel more aware of our responsibility regarding the environment and recognize the importance of living as eco-friendly as possible. About 7 years ago, I pasted a sticker on my room’s door with the more than known phrase “THINK GLOBAL.  ACT LOCAL” surrounding the shape of the planet earth. The truth is I pasted it at the time because of my obsession with the world and maps, just because I liked having the world at my room’s door. But this phrase took a logical and essential meaning for me over time, while public opinion, media and the way of doing business changed.

This phrase has a simple and down to earth meaning that can be applied both to the environment and society in general. Yes, it is up to us to make the world a better place every day and with our own little actions, our ways of living. To do so, we must be constantly in touch with information that opens our eyes, make us think beyond and show the results of our actions as human beings.

Art and culture are very effective tools of communication. Thus, we can find people like Daniel Beltrá, photographer from Madrid, who are conservationist professionals. Daniel specializes in aerial photography and this is how he shows the magnitude of some natural disasters, often in collaboration with Greenpeace.

Spill shows some of his last work, focused on the oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. These air and ground photographs show the disaster and its immense beauty, creating a strange contrary feeling.

It is thanks to the collaboration between Photographic Social Vision Foundation and Roca that we can see the free entry exhibition at Roca Madrid Gallery. 

Esta es parte de la fotografía que más me gusta de la exposición, y la más relevante de la misma, ya que ha sido galardonada con el premio Veolia (fotografía medioambiental) a la mejor fotografía en 2011.

Perdón por la mala calidad de mi foto, en la exposición se ve mucho más su belleza.
